At times I think I am nervous for graduation but I am more excited than anything. I get nervous thinking about graduation at times because I still have a journey ahead of me to get there. I am also nervous about where I am going to end up after graduation. Will I finish school? Will I find a job? Not knowing where I am going to end up makes me nervous. Although at times I get nervous I know I have to focus my energy on actually getting to the point of graduation. Aside from being nervous I am also excited to begin a new chapter in my life.
So far for post graduation I have applied to CSU Bakersfield and a couple other places but bakersfield is where i am planning to go. I am currently waiting to take the placement test this saturday in Bakersfield at 8 am. I have decided to get my own apartment, not only because it will help me become more independent but also because it will be closer to the campus, overall it will be very convenient for me. I have also been applying to various scholarships and financial aid. By also applying for financial aid I automatically enter for cal grants and other scholarships. I am also planning on getting a summer job and been applying, to help pay for school, books, gas etc.
What I am looking forward to the most is having more freedom. Even though I am still going to have my priorities in check, I am going to be out do what i need to or want to do without having to ask permission. Going to and from class is going to become my responsibility. Doing homework, studying, and getting help is all going to be on me. I am also looking forward to being able to choose my classes and when I have them, I am looking forward to being able to succeed on my own.
I am most grateful looking back on senior year is all my teachers. If it was not for them supporting me and guiding me I would not have made it this far. They taught me about how to write essays, solve quadratic equations, but they also showed me that in a few months I am going to be on my own so I need to take everything seriously especially my education. I am also very grateful for the counselors taking a genuine interest in our futures. Receiving emails every day about scholarships and deadlines may seem persistent but they just want to see us succeed. I am also grateful for my friends because they have accompanied me on this journey. Looking back on my senior year I am happy that I had fun while going throughout the years. Looking back coming into high school as a freshman, upperclassmen would always say to enjoy high school because the four years go by so fast and I never believed them. Being a few months away from graduation I have come to realize that I am going to make through highschool if I finish strong and I could make it through any situation in life if I am persistent and work hard.
